Prime Minister of Iceland: Will shift renewable energy from crypto mining to other industries

In an interview with the Financial Times, Icelandic Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir expressed a desire to shift the country’s renewable energy from crypto mining to households and other industries in Iceland, saying that “Bitcoin is a global problem... but Iceland of data centers use a large proportion of green energy," research firm Luxor said. Iceland's domestic crypto mining industry is not expected to grow as electricity becomes increasingly scarce amid high demand and fewer new power plants are being built.
